AcMo has
remained inactive for far too long. This
issue is too important for us to continue to ignore. It
is time for us to bring a fractured automotive segment back together
again. All of these cars need a good
home where they can be exploited to their maximum potential. AcMo is that home.
Testing is vital to any
semi-serious performance organization.
We treat vehicle testing with the same reverence and importance as
food: we can’t survive without either
one. The problem with continuous testing
is that vehicles fail. Repair downtime
is counted against available testing time.
One method we employ to mitigate downtime is to rotate the test fleet as
often as possible. As the price of
vehicles increases and the owner pool becomes shallower, it grows more
difficult to gain access to the appropriate high performance vehicles.
AcMo engineers have been
working hard on a plan to get the latest ultra-performance vehicles into the
test vehicle fleet on a faster and more consistent basis while not reducing our
profitability. That work has begun rewarding
us with the formulation of a brilliant concept.
The AcMo Hyper Car Hot Lap
X-prize will run in conjunction with the FIA’s World Endurance Championship as
a support series, provided they approve of the plan. The event consists of a morning warm-up, a
late morning qualifying session, and an afternoon 5-lap race. AcMo judges will determine the winner. Each winner will be impounded by AcMo for post-race
scrutineering, so each manufacturer needs to bring several examples so that
there will always be enough cars to run.
An overall winner will be
selected at the end of the season based on arbitrary criteria decided at the
time, and the winning vehicle will become a permanent member of AcMo’s test
fleet. The losing vehicles will also be
added to AcMo’s test fleet to keep things fair.
